stem up awareness campaign Taboo Artist Public Service Anouncement

A message from the STEM-Up Artist Alliance Chair:

“A solid education has long been recognized as the surest way to secure our community’s future prosperity. But in this new global economy, simply staying in school, or going to college, are no longer enough. The careers of tomorrow will require strong Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills, and the foundation for those skills must be laid at the community and family levels. That’s why I’ve teamed with STEM-Up to united Artists to spread this message.” Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas

Dario I. Valenzuela
Materials, Process & Physics Engineer
The Boeing Company

In just a few short years, Mr. Dario Valenzuela has firmly established himself as one of Boeing’s most promising young talents. He’s shown tremendous technical expertise in
automationtechnology and a knack for mentoring and guiding young engineers.

He’s worked on some of the company’s most important products
in military and commercial aviation, and he has two patents pending. His superiors anticipate that he will continue to
develop into a future leader at Boeing.

Dario is primarily involved in automation technology for aircraft components. His current rolesinclude designing, fabricating and
testing possible solutions to meet the needs of customers. He
recently worked on the new 787 Dreamliner’s horizontal stabilizer center joint, riblet and pivot
fitting installation, and developing process and scanning technology for installation of a new one
piece riblet design. Before his work on the 787, he distinguished himself as a stress analyst for
the 737 PA-8 Multi-Maritime aircraft, and later as a design engineer on the F-22 program.

In 2006 he took a position with Boeing's automation and assembly technology group. In his first
two assignments, he helped develop precision assembly technology that significantly reduced
assembly time, overall cost, and final product weight. This technology was so revolutionary that
Boeing later submitted the designs for patents.

He is an active member of his local SHPE Chapter and participates regularly in activities through
the Boeing Hispanic Employee Network. He spends much of his free time mentoring local
students from Glacier Park High School’s First Robotics Competition team.

Great Minds in STEM was proud to award Mr. Valenzuela in 2010 for the HENAAC Most
Promising Engineer - Undergraduate Degree Award.
